Ownwhile
Your pause, your data.
Stored in this browser
Ownwhile stores your selected sites, reading passages, topic filters and optional WhatsApp number in extension storage on this device. It also stores exercise choices, sound preferences, cooldowns and return counts.
Counts are separate for each website origin, except Onet subdomains, which share a history. “Recently” means a rolling 168 hours, with up to 200 timestamps retained. The lifetime total is separate. There is no automatic cloud sync, analytics, advertising or account.
Check-ins and sharing
Check-in ratings, notes and intentions are not saved by Ownwhile. Copy places a check-in on your system clipboard. Open WhatsApp passes your number and prepared message to WhatsApp; you decide whether to send it there. WhatsApp then handles that information under its own policies.
The exercise appears inside the website. Its interface is isolated from the website’s styles, but the website can inspect the page’s interface and entered text. Avoid putting sensitive information in a check-in on a website you do not trust.
Permissions
Website access lets Ownwhile display the pause, pause page media and filter YouTube result tiles. Access is limited to the supported YouTube, Instagram, Onet, LinkedIn, X and Twitter domains. Storage permission saves settings and exercise history. The extension does not read your browsing history, contacts or messages.
Removing data
Use Clear exercise history in Settings to reset return counts, cooldowns, exercise choices and sound preferences. Delete your number or passages and save to remove them from settings. Uninstalling removes the extension’s local data. Any copies you made on your clipboard or sent to WhatsApp remain outside Ownwhile.
